I recently joined the Hanrahan Health team as a senior speech pathologist, after moving interstate from South Australia. Working with clients across a wide range of ages means that no two days are alike. Here at Hanrahan Health, we have three clinics in Campbelltown, Bowral and Goulburn and four if you include our telehealth team which is nation-wide.

My day typically starts at 8am in the Campbelltown clinic, where I have time to prepare for my clients. I see clients in a variety of environments, including in the clinic, via telehealth as well as travelling to various schools, childcares, and homes. Therapy sessions are based on goals set by the client and/or their family and we always aim to make it both functional and fun! Joint therapy sessions with an occupational therapist are also a lot of fun and a great way to target both of our goals in the same session.

When I’m not seeing clients, I am usually in the office writing reports, developing resources, reviewing allied health assistant plans, being part of team meetings or just completing general administrative tasks. Every week, I meet with my supervisor to brainstorm ideas, discuss plans for PD courses and share highlights from my work. Part of my role as a senior speech pathologist is to supervise new graduate clinicians. These supervision sessions also happen every week, as well as editing their reports before they are sent to the client and their families. Supervision is a great way to ensure all clinicians feel supported in their professional roles and continue to grow and learn.

Our team at Hanrahan Health consists of speech pathologists, occupational therapists, allied health assistants, key workers and our amazing administrative team. Throughout the year, we have multiple team bonding events which are a great way to get to know the rest of the team! As part of the leadership team, I also get to be involved with helping shape the direction that Hanrahan Health is going in the future.  This year this included a 3-day business planning retreat in Noosa this year.  I love working as a senior speech pathologist at Hanrahan Health!
